About Kournas Lake in Apokoronas, Chania
Kournas is a beautiful area 21 Km away from the city of Rethimnon and 40 Km away from the city of Chania, Crete and 3.5 Km away from the amazing sandy beaches of Georgioupolis and Kavros.
In this area exists the famous Kournas Lake, the only one on the island of Crete with crystal clear waters and superb view. The White Mountains surrounding it are reflected in its calm waters. There are many villages arround the lake: Kournas, Mouri etc. all of them surrounded by groves of oranges and olives, with amazing view to the lake, the Georgioupolis beach and the White Mountains.
There are many traditional tavernas and fish restaurants arround the lake. More restaurants, cafeterias, super markets can be reached in Georgioupolis village, in just 3.5 km distance. For bars, clubs and amazing nightlife the city of Rethimnon or Chania is the ideal place.
